Bed Room

SP ‘23

My project was designed around the concepts of carved out spaces and collectors’ homes. I started my process by researching photos of Collector’s homes and thinking about how souvenirs and one-of-a-kind items in a home are placed and oriented around the room. I was also interested in traditional greek clay homes, whose interiors look almost carved out, where the negative space becomes the living space. Combining these interests, I designed a bedroom that consists entirely of “carved out” negative spaces, but each cove is specific to a collector’s item. No space is the same. There is an absence of harsh corners and doors, a choice that was not intentional but allowed through the inflation of objects in grasshopper. This funky bedroom is designed for someone with a curated taste who desires to live a curated life.
